Why We Created the MIHEI HMO Plan
At MIHEI, we believe that no woman should have to choose between her health and her finances, especially during pregnancy and childbirth. Yet in our 2024 needs assessment of over 1,000 perinatal women across Lagos State, only 10% reported having any form of health insurance. This means the vast majority of women are paying out-of-pocket or delaying care entirely, increasing the risk of complications and even loss of life.
We launched the MIHEI HMO Plan to change that.
Health insurance has been proven to increase access to timely antenatal care, safe delivery services, and postpartum follow-up, all of which are essential for saving lives and improving outcomes. Through our HMO packages, we are breaking down financial barriers and helping women, especially those in low-income communities, get the care they need without delay.
